Dear Health Working Group members of the Microinsurance Network,

The presentations on Health Microinsurance (HMI) at the Microinsurance
Conference have brought to our attention valuable ideas and interesting
experiences. However, many discussions had to be left open due to limited time
in Dakar. Therefore, the Health Working Group of the Microinsurance Network
decided to open this mailinglist for further exchange of ideas, experiences and
news on HMI.

In the future, thought-provoking questions will be released to the list on a
monthly basis. We encourage you to participate in the discussion by sharing your
opinion and HMI experiences, both successes and challenges. Your contribution
may provide the missing piece of information for others who are still struggling
with a problem or may trigger people who already found a solution to share it.

The starting point for our first discussion is the roles of the public and
private sectors in HMI:

Can we catalyse Health Microinsurance through PPP (Public Private
Partnerships)?
What partnership models have been tried so far and what was there performance?

We look forward to a stimulating exchange of emails.

Kind regrads,
Veronika

Notes on the operation of the mailinglist:

* The mailing list is open to the general public. Please circulate information
on the discussion through your networks. We would like to have as many informed
contributors as possible.

* Discussions will be “lightly” moderated, i.e. a brief summary will be
provided when discussions have calmed down. For this first debate, this summary
will be compiled by An Appelmans, who also suggested the topic. Please make
suggestions for further topics for discussion.

* Contributions to the list should not be limited to participating in the
discussion, we would like to encourage you to share information on HMI in
general: interesting publications you come across, seminars or conferences etc.

* You are not yet a member of the mailing list and you would like to join? -
