[Subgroup-health] Proposed areas of work 2009

Dear all
Before January goes by, I wish you a happy new year full of new projects,
initiatives and success in the development of health micro insurance and social
health protection programmes !
 
As most of you know, some of us had the oppotunity to meet in Carthagena early
November 2008, and 3 areas of work were proposed for 2009; of course this list
is not closed and if some of you have other ideas, please do not hesitate !!
 
The 3 areas of work are following :
1) How to better match demand and supply for health microinsurance (managed by
John Pott): 
Understand what is the spending structure on health at the community level and
come up with a pie chart of health expenditures in various countries
Understand how to better meet their needs
•
=> Planned activity: send an email to group members ; each of us has to fill at
least 1 pie chart
 
=> Achieved activity so far: John Pott sent a questionnaire to the list on last
friday ... I will resend it today to make sure new comers have received it (14
new members joined the group in Cartagena) ... so please have a look at it and
respond to it through our mailing list so that information is shared with
everybody
 
2) Role of private sector in health financing/insurance (managed by Barbara
Rohregger):
•PPPs to get private insurers into good practices 
•PPPs also to upgrade the supply side 
•Conciliate commercial interests and social protection concern
=> Planned activity: Draft TORs of a study on this topic; 2 types of final
products: country case study + one synthesis paper
 
3) Increase our use of GIMI within the subgroup
 
=> Planned activity: survey for users to understand their expectations
(content, user friendly aspects); involve group members in the production of
content (thematic pages, documents, news); create workspace for the 2nd area
group work
