[Microinsurancefocus] Al Jazeera News: Weather Index Insurance

The work that Shadreck Mapfumo and his Agriculture team have carried out
over the last few years to implement drought and typhoon insurance in the
Philippines was featured on Al Jazeera news earlier this week. The typhoon
product which uses a trigger based on the strength of the wind and distance
from the farmer is one of the first weather insurance products designed for
the poor that uses satellite data.
