>From 3 to 5 November 2009, the 5th International Microinsurance Conference will take place in Dakar, Senegal. This event is hosted by the Microinsurance Network (formerly the CGAP Working Group on Microinsurance), the Munich Re Foundation, supported by the Conference Interafricaine des Marches d’Assurances (CIMA), the African Insurance Organisation (AIO), the Fédération des Sociétés d’Assurances de Droit National Africaines (FANAF), the World Bank, the Journal of Risk and Insurance, the GTZ and the International Labour Organization (ILO).

La 5e Conférence internationale sur la Microassurance se tiendra du 3 au 5 novembre 2009 à Dakar, Sénégal. L’événement est accueilli par Microinsurance Network (anciennement CGAP Working Group on Microinsurance) et par la Fondation Münchener Rück et est soutenu par la Conférence interafricaine des Marches d’Assurances (CIMA), l’African Insurance Organisation (AIO), la Fédération des Sociétés d’Assurances de Droit National Africaines (FANAF), la Banque mondiale, le Journal of Risk and Insurance, la GTZ et la International Labour Organization (ILO).

Target audience / Public cible

Over 300 experts from around the world will exchange experiences and discuss the challenges of microinsurance. They include representatives from international organisations, NGOs, development-aid agencies, insurance and reinsurance companies, academics, policymakers and regulators.

Environ 300 experts du monde entier se retrouveront pour échanger leurs expériences et discuter des défis de la microassurance. Ce sont des représentants d’organisations internationales ou non gouvernementales, des agences d’aide au développement, des sociétés d’assurance et de réassurance, des universitaires, des décideurs politiques et des régulateurs.

Structure and goal of the conference / Structure et objectif de la conférence

The conference will have 5 plenary panel discussions on key topics addressing an interdisciplinary audience. 12 parallel working group sessions will deal in depth with different subtopics. Interactive sessions of approximately 90 minutes are the key part of the conference, encouraging discussion of work in progress and facilitating dialogue in small groups on emerging issues.

La conférence proposera 5 réunions-débats sur les sujets clés s’adressant à un public interdisciplinaire. 12 groupes de travail parallèles se pencheront sur différents sujets annexes. La conférence sera essentiellement composée de sessions interactives d’environ 90 minutes afin d'encourager les discussions sur les travaux en cours et de faciliter le dialogue en petits groupes sur les sujets émergents.

Registration becomes valid upon confirmation of the registration fee transfer received by the Munich Re Foundation.

Step 2

Send an email to  <mailto:veronique.ada at microfinance.lu> veronique.ada at microfinance.lu along with the bank details and registration confirmation. The Microinsurance Network will reimburse the full registration fee after the conference.

This procedure had to adopted for administrative reasons, but do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions.
