Dear colleagues,
Insufficient education about how insurance works and what its benefits
can be to the insured are major obstacles to the expansion of
microinsurance. Quality educational materials on microinsurance -
particularly when coordinated in an effort to avoid duplication and
encourages sharing of "best practice" - holds great potential to many
stakeholders in the microinsurance sector.
The recently formed Insurance Education Working Group of the Micro
Insurance Network (the WG) has set out to promote microinsurance through
taking stock of educational materials already developed, identifying and
documenting best practice, encouraging the sharing of resources across
the microinsurance community.
As part of this, the WG, in collaboration with the Microinsurance
Innovation Facility of the ILO, has prepared a *_Global Survey on
Insurance Education.
<http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=qYKuCNauPzzQjmwVQf6MEw_3d_3d>_* This
survey aims to make it easier to access knowledge about insurance
education initiatives globally, and to help promote providers of
services in this (largely under-served) area.
We hope that the responses will enable the creation of a "virtual
library" with information on insurance education experiences through
which organizations which would like to conduct insurance education
programs can choose effective tools, methodologies, or contact a
professional for advice.
